Moses leading the Israelites to the Promise Land.
I wonder if God feels like our parents do when we misbehave all of the time?
Now Israel is complaining about not having enough to eat! (Moses was leading them through the wilderness) A few weeks ago it was because the water was bitter now they wish they were back were they had more than enough to eat, but not thinking of the horrible way they were treated by their taskmasters, beating them and driving them to make as many bricks as before. But not supplying them with the materials like they did in the beginning. Just not very grateful. Are you like that? I hope not.
Well, God told Moses that He will send down food for them to eat. But it came with instructions. They were to go out every morning and gather this white stuff that was on the ground! They learned to fix it many different ways. They were to gather about 3 quarts for each person in their family each day. If they gathered more than that they had nothing left over and those that didn’t get that much God stretched it so everyone in that family had enough. They were to prepare all that they gathered each day and not leave any for the next day. But some of them didn’t obey and the next morning what they saved over stunk and had worms in it!! Moses was very mad at them. Because they didn’t do as they were told to do. Then on the sixth day Moses told them to gather up twice as much as there would not be any on the ground the seventh day because it was a day of rest. Did everyone obey? No, some still went out to get some food for the day.
They called it Manna which meant bread from heaven. Well, this time when they gathered enough for two days the amount that for was the next day didn’t stink or have worms in it! That was because they obeyed the Lord and did what He told them to do. What was this manna like? Well, the Bible says that it was like Coriander seed. It grows on a plant that has a tall stalk and the flowers on it has the seeds in them. This plant is found in Egypt, Persia and India. It was the seeds that God sent that was the “bread” which to them bread
meant food. It tasted sweet like honey.
Then not only did God give them the Manna in the morning but every evening the ground was covered with quail. All they had to do was go out and catch them and kill them and they had meat to eat with their manna! They had no guns, but they did have long sticks that they walked with, and used with their sheep. So maybe they took those and hit them over the head! I don’t know as the Bible does not say! They ate this for 40 years as they traveled through the wilderness and came to the land of Canaan. Moses told Aaron and the people of Israel to fill a pot with some of the manna to show their grandchildren in future years how God fed them as they journeyed in the wilderness. This, probably Aaron’s pot, was also put in the Mercy Seat that will be made at a later date. This is where “show and tell” time was started, and you thought that your teachers were
the ones that started that!!
Now they were close to other people for they were in the land of Canaan and that land had people living in it. But they came to Rephidim and set up camp. Now they started complaining again! Why don’t these people ever learn? An as I read it in the Bible it sounds like they are never thankful and not happy people. Once again they complained to Moses, “Now you have brought us and our children and our cattle up from Egypt to kill us with thirst?” So Moses went in prayer to the Lord and said, “they are about to stone me, now what am I going to do?” So God told him to go to with his rod that he parted the waters of the Red Sea with and go to a rock in Horeb and God said that He will stand upon the rock and Moses is to hit the rock once and out of it will gush forth water. So they did that and the people had plenty of water to drink and also for all of their cattle. Now kids remember this story when you start to complain and think of all of the things that you have to be thankful for and maybe ask for what is needed and not complain that you don’t have what you think that you need! See you in a few months and we’ll find out what those people

Jerry and Ready Stories
The sun poked up over the mountains bringing with it an other day. soon the rays were poking throught Jerry's window. It poked it's shinny fingers at Jerry trying to wake him. Brighter and brighter the sun glowed, filling the room with a bright yellow orange glow.
Jerry stirred a little so the sun shone harder in his room trying to wake him up. Then he made an other slight movement stretching out his arms. "Oh, yawn. Humm. I smell breakfast." Jerry said as he starts to get up and his leg reminded him that it was hurting, then his back said, "remember me" I got hurt too, when you fell." With a lot of effort he managed to get up out of bed. Now, propped up against the wall were a pair of crutches. They reminded himof what happened yesterday.
Jerry had wanted a snowboard for Christmas. When the gifts were all opened he was a little disapointed, but thankful for the clothes and the watch that he got.
"Jerry," Father said, "I saw a big box out in the garage...
Jerry went running out as Father continued talking to him. "Oh, could it be! Did I get my snowboard!" The last of Dad's words were heard as Jerry reached for the door, "with a big red bow on it and your name on the tag." Throwing open the door his eye caught the big red bow on a big box in the corner. Quickly he ran over and tore off the paper. Inside the box was the most beautiful snowboard he had ever seen. Taking it out of the box he carried it unto the house. Now, Jerry was beaming from ear to ear. "Oh, it is just the right colors. When can we go and try it out? I gotta call Joe." Off he ran to tell Joe the good news.
That afternoon Jerry and Joe went to the park where there were some places made for the kids to slide, ski and snowboard around on to learn to balance themselves. But, it wasn't until the next weekend, up up on the ski hill, where Jerry came face to face with the ski hill! He was coming down hill picking up speed as he came. When his feet went out from underneath him. 'Splat' there he lay and the board kept going on down the hill.
Slowly he tried to turn over. "Oh, my back!" Then trying to move his legs he soon realized something was wrong. Within minutes there was someone by his side. "Are you alright?" he asked as he started to check him over. "Oh, my knee hurts." Jerry whispered. "This one that is underneath you?" He asked. Nodding his head Jerry confirmed his answer. as he checked him over he said, "Well, it dosen't look like you have and broken bones, that's good." Having already made a call to the rest of the Ski patrollers they now showed up with a tobaggan to put him on and took him on down the hill stopping briefly to pick up his snowboard. on to the hospital for z-rays and then home. The Patrol man was right, no broken bones, just a sprained knee, sore ankle and some bruises.
Hopping into the kitchen on his crutches Mother turnes and smiles at him. "Good morning , did you sleep well?" "Yes, I must have 'crashed' again!" Jerry said with a grin. "I have your breakfast ready for you I thought that I maight have to bring it up to you, but I am glad that you get up and are moving around. How is that knee this morning?" "Oh, it let's me know that it is still in a bad mood!" Jerry told her. "Well, it is good that you still have a few days before you have to go back to school. Maybe by then it won't be do 'cranky' and you will be able to walk on it!" She replied.
Joe came over and spent the afternoon with Jerry and they played some games on his computer. "Say, do you think that next weekend you will be able to go to snowboarding again?" Joe asked. "A bunch of kids from the church are going to get together for the weekend."
"Yes, I remember I was wanting to go but now I don't know." Jerry said with a shrug.
"Well, let's go to the meeting and then we'll see come the weekend, ok?" Joe asked. "Sure, I think so. Mom." He hollered, "Can I go to the youth meeting tonight?" Mother entering the room replied, "What did you say. I didn't hear it all?" "I want to go to the youth meeting tonight. Can I go?" Jerry asked again. "I thought I heard something about a meeting. We will see what Dad think when he comes home." She replied. The afternoon seemed to drag by and before long Joe said he had to go home. "Ok, see you later." Jerry replied.
That night at the youth meeting the kids gathered around Jerry as they came in asking a lot of questions. "What happen to you? How did you do that? Can you go with us this weekend?" Were a few of them. Above the noise was heard, "Alright, let's sit down and get started." The Youth leader said in a loud voice. "Tom lead us in prayer please."
During the meeting it was decieded that Jerry could do the peper work for the games as he wanted to go but Dad had sad that he couldn't participate in the down hill events. Jerry was glad that he got to go but sad that he couldn't snowboard in the races. Life wasn't all bad, he decided he could go and enjoy being with his friends.

This is a story that I heard as a young girl and I want to tell it to you, but putting a name on the boy in the story and have it be one of our Jerry and Ready stories! It is called,
‘Little Boat Twice Owned.’
Jerry is about seven and Ready is just a puppy, they are with Jerry’s dad in his shop. Jerry is watching his dad work on a project. Ready, well he was chewing on a stick of wood at Jerry’s feet.
"I would like to make something to." Jerry told his Dad.
"Well, what would you like to make? He asked. "Do you want to make a bird house, a airplane or a little sail boat to float in the water?
"Hum,... a bird house would be nice for the birds and I could watch them go in and out and have their babies, or fly a plane around but a sailboat would be a lot of fun. I could sail it around in the water when I go fishing! I think that I would like to make a sailboat."
"A sailboat it is then. That will need some special wood so let’s go to the lumber yard and see what they have. Soon they were back home and Jerry started working on his sailboat. His dad cut the boards following the measurements on the instructions. They were about half done when Mother announced that supper was ready. Reluctant to leave, Jerry followed his dad into the house.
"What are you to working on now?" Mother asked.
"Well, Jerry said that he wanted to make something and he settled on a sailboat. We went and got the materials and instructions and now he is building a boat! Oh, looks like you didn’t get all of the sawdust off your clothes, Jerry." His dad replied.
Jerry worked for several days putting together his little sailboat, making sure that everything was just right. He painted it, and put a mark on it. It even had a cloth sail to finish it off. Now it was ready for a maiden voyage! He and Ready went of to the river. He didn’t take his fishing rod this time this was a very special day! Finding that special place for launching he put the boat into the river. Off it sailed down the river, hugging the bank as it went along. Jerry was so happy and had so much fun. He decided that he needed an anchor on it so when he was fishing it could stay in the water but not float away. Back to the house they went, a wet dog, a wet boat and a muddy boy.
Several weeks had gone by and it was in the middle of summer when Jerry and Ready, fishing pole and sailboat, went down to the river. By now Jerry had a chain and anchor fastened on the boat and anchored it in the water while he was fishing.
A sharp piercing sound reached his ears, he listened intently there it was a second time. It was a fire alarm! The trucks were now going down the street past his house. Jerry loved the fire trucks, he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up. Dropping his fishing pole down on the ground he and Ready ran off to see where the fire was. Arriving at the place where the fire trucks were he watched them as they put out the fire. Nearly done, one of the firemen saw Jerry and hollered "Hey Jerry, come and help us clean up. Soon the work was done and Jerry headed back to the river to get is fishing pole and sailboat. "Oh, no where is it where did it go! Ready, my sail boat is gone!" Running down the river bank he looked every where but he couldn’t find it. Where could it have gone? What has happened to it? What am I going to do, I don’t have my sailboat. Gathering up his fishing gear he and Ready trudge back home, dejected, and sad with tears rolling down his face.
"Mom, I lost my sailboat." Jerry told her between sobs.
"What happened?" she asked. So Jerry toled her the whole story how he had let it float around and then anchored it. Then was fishing when he heard the fire trucks. But when he came back it was gone yet the fishing pole was still there.
"Well, you will just have to make an other one." Mother said trying to comfort him.
"It wouldn’t be the same. I want that one back." he told her and began to cry.
Time had passed and now fall had settled in with the trees in their beautiful colors. Jerry went to town with his mom and dad. They were walking down the street when in the window of a pawn shop Jerry saw a sailboat perched upon a box. Jerry stopped and looked. "Dad, look there’s a sail boat!" Secretly he was hoping that it might be his.
"So it is, let’s go inside and take a look."
"May I help you folks?" asked the man behind the counter.
"We would like to see the sailboat you have in the window." Dad answered.
Setting it on the counter in front of Jerry, he looked at it then taking it up he checked it all over. "Yes, here it is. Here is the mark that I put on it. This is my boat Dad, this is my boat!" Jerry exclaimed.
"Are you sure, young man?" replied the man.
"How did you get it?" Dad asked the man behind the counter.
"Well, earlier this summer an old man came carrying it in and wanted to sell it to me. I asked him why he wanted to sell it. He told me some story that didn’t sound right, but finally I got out of him that he found it in the river along the bank. That it was hung up in some tall cattails and he was needing some money. So, he brought it to me. I could tell that it was well crafted and I gave him some money for it and he left. When he never came back for it I decided to put it up for sale. Jerry looked at the price tag and looked at his dad. "I have enough money in my piggy bank to buy this back." So his dad paid the man and Jerry was heard saying as they left the shop. "Little boat you are twice mine. Your mine because I made you and now your mine because I bought you."
Kids, that is true in our own lives. Christ made us when He made the world. After He created this universe and all that is in it, He then created man and woman. From them has come all of the people that live on this earth. But man turned away from God and sinned. He believed the lies of Satan, so therefore Jesus had to die on the cross to buy man back for Himself. So, we too who have accepted Christ as our Saviour, are twice His. He made us and then He bought us.
Happy Easter.
